About Wickford
Wickford is a town in the Basildon borough of Essex with a population of around 27,500, located roughly 30 miles east of central London and 4 miles north-east of Basildon. The town has roots stretching back to Roman times, with the remains of a Roman villa discovered at the Beauchamps Farm site. The high street features a range of independent shops, a library, swimming pool and a regular open-air market. Wick Country Park on the edge of town covers 50 acres of green space with walking trails, a lake and woodland.
Wickford railway station sits on the Shenfield to Southend line, providing Greater Anglia services to London Liverpool Street in around 40 minutes. The station also connects to the Crouch Valley line serving Southminster. Housing across the town is a mix of post-war estates, 1960s and 1970s developments and modern family homes, many with private driveways and garages well suited to roller door installations.
