The 55mm slat is the standard choice for single garages up to about 2.6 metres wide. It carries a 12.5mm high-density foam core, rolls into a compact housing and suits the majority of Essex homes. The 77mm slat is a heavier section with 18mm of insulation, built for double garages and exposed openings up to around 5 metres, where its extra rigidity gives better wind resistance and a more substantial look.

The security of a roller shutter garage door is built into the way it works. The slats interlock along the full width of the curtain, so force applied to one slat spreads across its neighbours and into the guide rails at each side. The curtain runs inside deep guide channels, so its edges are enclosed and there is no corner to get a pry bar behind. The outside face is smooth, with no handle to attack.

Every price is fully fitted and includes VAT. The 55mm range starts from £1,275 for a 9mm slat door with external key switch operation, or £1,325 with the thicker 12.5mm slat. Remote control packages with two handheld remotes and a safety edge start from £1,475. The 77mm range for wider openings starts from £1,790, and a 5-metre wide 77mm door is typically around £3,000 fully fitted.
