About Harlow
Harlow is a town in western Essex, situated around 23 miles north-east of central London on the south bank of the River Stort. The town has a population of approximately 93,000 and was designated as a new town in 1947. The original settlement, now known as Old Harlow, sits to the east while the planned town centre and residential neighbourhoods were built through the 1950s and 1960s. Harlow is noted for its green wedges - corridors of open space connecting residential areas with parks and countryside.
Harlow Town station provides direct rail services to London Liverpool Street, Cambridge and Stansted Airport. The M11 motorway runs close by, giving fast road access to London and the north. Housing across the town includes post-war estates, modern family homes and newer developments, many with garages and driveways suited to roller door installations.
